"Where Reading Comes to Life"
The Burlington Community Library was founded in 1981 by a group of
community members wanting to provide library materials to those living in the
Burlington area. Volunteers were at the foundation of the library then, just as
they are today.
The library offers a wide range of books for all ages. The main computer has DSL
Internet access. A meeting room is available for organizational or private function
use. Reservations can be made by contacting the library.
We are in need of volunteers to help cover two-hour shifts, as well as serve on the library board. If you would like
to help in either of these areas, contact Karen at the library.

BACKYARD ADVENTURES SUMMER READING CLUB
27 children participated in the Backyard Adventures Reading Club this summer. Over 400 books were read by the children during the program. We'd like to thank Gale Motter for sharing her vast knowledge of animals with the kids. We'd also like to thank Burlington Kiwanis, The Burlington Scoop and Lesh Advertising for their donations towards prizes awarded to the kids.

Reading for Learning, Reading for Life
One of the continuing goals of the library is to encourage our youngest patrons in their reading.
The library recently received a matching grant from the Carroll County Community Foundation.
This grant enabled the library to update the children's department. New books were purchased
along with new shelving to house the books. A children's reading corner was also created with a
special nature area rug and comfy bean bag chairs for young readers to enjoy looking at
books during their visit to the library. The library is grateful to the Community Foundation for this
matching grant. For a list of books purchased, and pictures of the new children's corner, click here.
